TIPS
Avoid travel hassles and know your rights.
If you're bumped:
Know the facts -
You can accept travel vouchers if you're flight has been oversold, but the government requires airlines to give you a check if you request one. Or, if you prefer, your carrier will rebook you on another flight or with another carrier to get to your destination.

Cancelled Flight:
Know the facts -
Before you go to the airport, download your airline's "Contract of Carriage." It will detail the policies of your carrier and the compensation it will provide for delays or cancellations depending on whether they are due to weather, maintenance, terrorism, or labor strikes.

Airlines often say they will rebook you on the next available flight, but during peak travel seasons, seats will be scarce. Before you go to the airport, consult www.oag.com to find out which carriers fly that route in case you need to switch.

Do NOT wait in a long line at the ticket counter - call another airline immediately to ask whether your ticket will be honored. If the second airline won't honor it, consider purchasing another ticket and asking for reimbursement.
